Balfolk ball before Christmas

We invite you to our regular Balfolk dance nights with workshops before them!

This time you will be taught by Augustas and the workshop will be about: Variations in Mazurka

Balfolk is the common name for a European folk dance revived and reintroduced in France in the 1970s. This relatively young dance's popularity is due to talented musicians' ability to modernize folk music. After discovering the new sound of well-known melodies, people began to dance the dance for themselves rather than to perform on stage. This transformed a traditional dance style into a new, creative, flexible dance that retained deep-rooted dance steps without losing its community orientation. Today, this style of dance attracts dancers across Europe.

• 18:00-20:00 Workshop - Variations in Mazurka
• 20:00-23:00 Dancing to recordings and live music (All musicians are welcome to join)

PRICES:

Fair dance nights: fairer rewards.

Organising proper, enjoyable events with good musicians (sometimes from abroad) is expensive and labour-intensive. Nevertheless, ticket prices for this type of live event are relatively low. As a result, you can choose from four different types of tickets. The choice is entirely voluntary. By choosing fair and sponsored price tickets, you will contribute to a fairer reward for the work and costs of musicians and organisers. Thank you in advance!

We are quite sure that the average traditional dancer cannot realistically assess the costs, work and risks involved in organising an evening of traditional dancing. This is quite normal, as the organisers usually do not discuss it. The most common costs are venue rental, musicians' remuneration, transport costs, accommodation, organisation work and time.

TO KNOW:

• The dance evening will take place on Gediminas Ave. 47A hall. (you will find the stairs to the basement by entering the courtyard from Gediminas Ave.).
• You should bring your footwear to the dance, as the hall is new and outdoor shoes are not allowed.
• There will be music from the speaker for dances and live music.
• Please bring your own bottles of water; there is drinkable water in the hall (there are also cups)
