Burundukas Cup 2025 - 1

NEWS for active dog owners in the Baltics! This year, the Burundukas Cup (yes, there will even be two events!) is part of the Baltic Trophy series. More details can be found HERE.

After a long and lazy winter, the Burundukas (chipmunk) is planning to finally emerge from its den on April 12th. We'll meet at our traditional location—the Bartkuškis Forest (near Kernavė)—for the Burundukas Cup 2025-1!

What kind of race is it?
As usual, the Burundukas Cup is tailored especially for newcomers to dog mushing sports, yet perfectly suited for seasoned mushers waking up from their winter break.

Where and what?
Dog mushing competitions in Bartkuškis Forest.

When?
April 12th, 2025. Starts are scheduled from 12:00, but we reserve the right to move the start time earlier in case of warm weather (for the welfare of the dogs).

Entry fees?
Participation per person per discipline is €17. Participation in a second discipline costs €10. Children's run (DCC discipline) costs €7.

Competition classes?
Open class. The Northern Breed (NB) class for wheeled disciplines will be opened if at least 5 participants register. Dogs must have FCI documents.

Disciplines?
The traditional Burundukas Cup set:

  • Four-dog team (DR4)
  • Two-dog scooter (DS2)
  • One-dog scooter (DS1)
  • Bikejoring (cyclist with dog, DBM for men and DBW for women)
  • Canicross (runner with dog, DCM for men and DCW for women)
  • Children's run with dogs (DCC). Children up to 14 years old (participants aged 14 and above start in general categories).

Race tracks?
The main adult disciplines will have a route of approximately 3-4 km.
Children's run: approximately 300-500 meters; the children’s route is flat and straight.

Awards?
All finishers will receive commemorative medals! The three fastest participants in each main discipline will be awarded medals and sponsor prizes. If the NB class doesn't open separately, we'll award the single fastest participant in wheeled disciplines.

Additional requirements?
Participating dogs must be at least one year old (12 months) and have valid vaccinations (vaccination passports will be checked during the event). Equipment, as always, must be clean, safe, and compliant with competition standards.
