The gallery "Shunga - sex in Japanese art" will open in Kaunas. The museum will exhibit Japanese erotic prints "Shunga". Opening November 19, 13:00. Vasario 16-osios gatvė 9, Kaunas, The exhibition will feature color woodblock prints by famous Japanese artists, including works by the famous Kitagawa Utamaro and Tomioka Eizen. In total, guests will be able to see more than 60 Japanese and Chinese works of the 19th and 20th centuries. For thousands of years, Japanese and European cultural traditions developed in isolation from each other, forming their own unique worldviews. The exhibition will allow you to immerse yourself in the bold genre - shunga. Shunga (literal translation - "spring pictures") - engravings with erotic content. They depict naked figures of men and women in love in the most intimate moment of intimacy, without excessive modesty and guilt. The viewer of the exhibition will be able to get acquainted with the diversity of Shunga: from works that only suggest and arouse the imagination (abuna-e), to open and detailed engravings, where the borderline between erotic art and taboo get lost.
