WORLD PREMIERE
of the installation dedicated to the Church of Saint Virgin Mary of Consolation

Heiner Goebbels, known for breaking the mold of traditional art canons, has been recognized with some of the most prestigious music and theater awards. He has been nominated several times for a Grammy and awarded Norway’s International Ibsen Award for innovation in the field of musical theater. Goebbels' works are performed at many important theater, jazz, and contemporary music festivals, as well as the world's largest modern arts forums.

For the last known Baroque-style building constructed in Vilnius, the Church of Saint Virgin Mary of Consolation, the composer has created an audiovisual installation that combines sound, video projections, light and objects.  He is assisted by René Liebert, a video and light artist based in Berlin. In one of the spaces of the church - the former sacristy, which later served as car repair workshops and is now completely unused - Heiner Goebbels invites you to an intimate experience with the different temporalities, which communicate across time. During the world premiere days of the installation, visitors will not only be able to see the artwork but can also have a highly informative tour around the church.

You can visit the installation and special educational exhibition about the church from May 10th to May 14th, 2023.
When purchasing tickets, please select your preferred visit date and time. You will be able to enter the installation at any time during the selected hour.

MUSIC FOR VILNIUS
Compositions for Selected Vilnius Locations by World-Famous Composers

Seven world-famous composers from diverse countries and cultures, renowned for their performances on prestigious concert stages and at international festivals from New York to Tokyo, will honor Vilnius by offering their exclusive musical gifts in celebration of the city's 700th anniversary. Each composer is creating a new music piece dedicated to a selected location in the city, which will be publicly presented during the cycle of world premieres from May to July. Accompanying the premieres are portrait concerts and other events. These compositions, as installations, will remain in their respective locations as a cultural legacy of the composers for future generations, contributing to the history of Vilnius.
