The Foreigner presented by Vilnius Amateur Theater
The local amateur theater group, VAT- Vilnius Amateur Theater, is proud to show the play The Foreigner.
Trying to forget his marital problems, dull and doleful Charlie Baker takes a fishing lodge holiday in the Deep South of America. To avoid being pestered by the locals, he pretends he is a foreigner who doesnโt speak English. This leads him to become involved, at first unwillingly, in bizarre goings-on featuring a corrupt preacher, his pregnant girlfriend, her none-too-bright kid brother, and the local branch of the Ku Klux Klan! The debut performance of this community theatre group here in Vilnius.
The Foreigner is a 1984 two-act comedy by American playwright Larry Shue. It has become a staple of amateur theatre, earning two Obie Awards and two Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best New American Play and Best Off-Broadway Production.
