Kanklės lessons (4 individual sessions)

We invite you to learn how to play the traditional Lithuanian folk instrument – the kanklės. 🎼

This course is designed for beginners who are curious to get to know this instrument. Over 4 sessions, you will learn how to tune the kanklės, discover the basic finger positions, become familiar with several traditional kanklės playing techniques, and try playing your very first pieces. ✨

The lessons will be played on traditional 9–12 string kanklės. Sessions are individual, so you will receive the lecturer’s full attention. 😊

If you do not have your own instrument, kanklės can be loaned during the sessions (rental fee €20 for the entire course, limited availability). 🤝

The sessions are led by ethnomusicologist, educator, and folk performer Goda Kovalenkienė. Immersed in the world of traditional music since the age of four, she has been playing the kanklės for over 30 years. For Goda, the kanklės is a uniquely resonant instrument that anyone can enjoy. She is happy to accompany her students on this beautiful journey of friendship with music and help them experience the joy of making music. 🎶
